European Energy, a Denmark-based developer of renewable energy projects, has secured major Contracts for Difference tariffs for Italy portfolio. The Italian energy agency Gestore dei Servizi Energetici SpA (GSE) has formally awarded these CfD tariffs to five solar projects, which have a significant combined capacity totaling 513 MW. The awards target utility-scale sites with capacities stretching from 20 MW up to 225 MW throughout Sicily, Apulia, and Molise in Italy. The projects are progressing successfully under the FerX auction scheme. One key project, the Vizzini solar park in Sicily, will become the country’s largest solar park. This asset will integrate energy generation with agricultural production, serving as Italy’s first large-scale agri-PV installation. Recently, European Energy has taken over Heartland’s Gedmose solar operations.
