UK based Enviromena has secured planning permission for a 16 MW (AC) St Mary in the Marsh solar farm in Kent. The approval is granted by the planning committee of Folkestone and Hythe District Council. The Marsh solar project will generate more than 28,000 MWh of electricity per year. The output will be sufficient to supply over 10,500 UK homes annually. The project is expected to avoid more than 5,000 tons of carbon emissions each year. The approval also included biodiversity net gains across hedgerows, habitats, and watercourses. In addition, the project includes GBP 32,000 community benefit package. It supported the council’s Climate and Ecological Emergency objectives and its net zero by 2030 action plan. Earlier, Close Brothers backed Enviromena’s 30 MW solar farm in Shropshire, reflecting continued project financing activity across the UK portfolio.
