London headquartered Enviromena has secured construction financing from Close Brothers’ Energy team to support delivery of the fully consented 30 MW (AC) Steeraway Solar Farm in Shropshire. The project received planning approval in May 2023 and was awarded a government-backed Contract for Difference in Allocation Round 6 in September 2024, providing an index-linked revenue stream for 15 years. The construction is scheduled to begin later this year, with grid connection targeted for late 2026. Once operational, the solar farm is expected to supply electricity to more than 15,000 homes annually and avoid over 8,000 tons of carbon emissions each year. Approved plans also include biodiversity measures, landscape planting and continued agricultural grazing to integrate the site with surrounding land use.
