US based Atlas Renewable Energy and ArcelorMittal have completed part B of the Luiz Carlos Solar Park in Paracatu, delivering the 315 MW facility 90 days ahead of schedule. The plant becomes fully owned by ArcelorMittal Brasil in December 2025 under the Build, Operate, and Transfer (BOT) model. Under this model, Atlas builds and operates the project before transferring full ownership after commercial operation begins. The solar park is designed to generate an average of 74 MW annually and includes a 65 km, 500 kV transmission line, a step-up substation and a grid connection at the Paracatu 4 substation. The build incorporates 516,000 bifacial modules, tracker systems and Trunk Cable technology to improve installation speed, connection reliability and wiring efficiency. The project forms part of ArcelorMittal’s BRL 5.8 billion (~$ 1.06 billion) renewable energy program, which also includes a wind–solar hybrid development in Bahia. Atlas Renewable Energy opens the 201 MWp Shangri La project in Tolimato, adding another utility-scale asset to its regional portfolio.
