Shanghai Aiko Solar Energy Co., Ltd., (AIKO) a Shanghai-based solar technology manufacturer, has addressed reports of a new patent infringement lawsuit filed by Maxeon Solar Pte. Ltd. at the Regional Court of Munich I. Maxeon has alleged that AIKO’s ABC products infringe its European patent EP2297789. According to AIKO, this patent is part of the same family as EP2297788. A Dutch court rejected Maxeon’s request for a preliminary injunction on EP2297788 in May 2024. AIKO has stated that extensive internal and external legal reviews were conducted and have concluded that its ABC products differ fundamentally from the technical solutions protected by EP2297789. The defendent therefore maintains that no infringement has occurred. AIKO has also reported 3,500 patent applications, including 1,900 ABC-related filings and 750 granted ABC patents.
