Maxeon Solar Technologies, a Singapore-headquartered PV module producer, has filed a new patent infringement lawsuit against Aiko Solar and its distribution network before the Munich Regional Court I in Germany. Maxeon alleges that Aiko’s Gen 2 and Gen 3 BC modules sold in Europe infringe its patent EP2297789B1. The accuser has said that this action follows an intellectual property complaint filed in 2023 before the Mannheim Regional Court concerning patent EP2297788. It also follows a 2024 complaint before the Unified Patent Court’s Düsseldorf Local Division over patent EP3065184. Both patents are part of the same BC solar technology family as EP2297789B1. Maxeon is seeking a permanent injunction and disclosure of sales data for the accused products and is also pursuing damages and destruction of allegedly infringing inventory held in Germany. The lawsuit has named four German distributors, Wattkraft, DWH Solutions, Memodo, and Tepto, as co-defendants. Recently, Maxeon has exited several international markets to concentrate on US manufacturing.
