EIB’s €166 million loan to BNZ for PV plants in Spain, Italy, Portugal

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has provided a €166 million loan to BNZ, an Independent Power Producer, to support the construction of 17 solar plants in Spain, Italy, and Portugal. This loan is the first tranche of a larger €500 million package aimed at helping BNZ roll out 1.7 GW of solar power across Southern Europe by 2026. The project is part of the EIB’s action plan to support REPowerEU, which aims to end dependence once fossil fuels. The new solar plants will generate enough clean energy to power over 390,000 households, primarily in economically disadvantaged regions.
