EDP Renewables North America LLC (EDPR NA), a leading renewable energy developer, has inaugurated the Scarlet I Solar Energy Park in Fresno County, California. This 200 MW project, including a 40 MW storage system, will power approximately 68,000 average California homes annually. Scarlet I has secured PPAs with Ava Community Energy for 100 MW of PV and 30 MW of BESS, and with San José Clean Energy (SJCE) for 100 MW of PV and 10 MW of BESS. The company claims it created over 230 construction jobs and five permanent positions for ongoing operations and maintenance. The project saves an estimated 254 million gallons of water annually. Additionally, the project is exploring agrivoltaics, successfully trialing sheep grazing on site with locally sourced sheep. This project expands EDPR NA’s existing 248 MW operational footprint in California.
