The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) and Bishkek Solar have signed a cooperation agreement to finance a 300 MW PV power station in Toru-Aigyr village, Issyk-Kul Region, Kyrgyz Republic. Signed on May 21 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, the project involves key agreements: purchasing all electricity by National Electric Grid of Kyrgyzstan (NEGK) for 25 years, a public-private partnership with the Ministry of Energy, and a 25-year investment agreement with the Cabinet of Ministers. EDB will provide up to $210 million (in Chinese yuan) for 15 years. The plant aims for completion by 2025. Additionally, EDB has also supported the Kulanak HPP project with up to $127 million, enhancing energy security and Kyrgyzstan’s position in Central Asia’s electricity market.
