The Mammoth Solar Project, a 1.3 GW initiative by Doral Renewables in Indiana’s Starke and Pulaski counties, has won the Dual Use Plan of the Year at the North American Agrivoltaics Awards. Set to be one of the largest solar facilities in the US, it will power approximately 250,000 homes. The project blends traditional farming with solar energy, utilizing 1,500 sheep, Kune Kune pigs, and other animals for sustainable vegetation management. This integration supports local agriculture and crop cultivation, including corn and blueberries, while enhancing pollinator habitats. Divided into three phases—Mammoth North, South, and Central—the project’s first phase will start operations soon. Philadelphia-based Doral Renewables oversees over 13 GW of projects and holds over $2.5 billion in power purchase agreements.
