US-based Scenic Hill Solar has secured $31.8 million in initial funding to support solar projects for the University of Arkansas System, spanning 18 sites. According to Scenic Hill Solar, this marks the fourth-largest renewable energy deployment by a university in the US and the largest solar installation in Arkansas. The funding was provided by Climate United, a nonprofit coalition, as part of its first investment from the US Environmental Protection Agency’s National Clean Investment Fund. Scenic Hill plans to build 18 solar projects across 13 utility service areas in Arkansas. The project is expected to save the UA System $120 million in energy costs over 25 years and create hundreds of jobs statewide.
