US-based Clearway Energy Group has closed financing and started construction on the Pine Forest projects in Hopkins County, Texas, which consist of a 300 MW solar project and a 200 MW standalone energy storage system. Clearway partnered with a consortium of banks for this financing, including Société Générale, ANZ, BBVA, Commerzbank, KeyBanc Capital Markets, and Lloyds Bank. This $665 million investment is expected to provide clean energy for over 90,000 homes. Dell Technologies and Universal Corporation have both signed long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) to support their renewable energy goals. Dell’s contract will meet most of its US energy needs and contribute to its sustainability targets, while Universal will offset 100% of its electricity usage in the US. Set to begin commercial operations in 2025, the project will support 350 construction jobs and is expected to contribute more than $58 million in property taxes over the next 20 years.
