US-based CleanCapital added the Warrior solar project, a 6.4 MW installation, to its portfolio, located at the closed Mohawk Valley Sanitary Landfill in Frankfort, New York. The project is designed to generate over 7.6 million kWh annually, providing enough energy to power over 1,000 homes, with a focus on supporting low-income subscribers through the Expanded – Solar For All (E-SFA) program. Acquired in August 2023, Warrior is part of CleanCapital’s Adirondacks portfolio, which also includes projects previously obtained from EDF Renewables. Despite challenges such as labor shortages and adverse weather, major construction was completed in June 2024. The site required specialized engineering to install solar arrays on both the closed landfill and a borrow pit. EDF Renewables and WM managed the lease agreements, with support from the Herkimer County IDA. The portfolio now totals 26.475 MW, focusing on utilizing repurposed land for solar development.
