TE H2, a joint venture between TotalEnergies and EREN Group, along with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and A.P. Møller Capital, initiated pre-FEED studies for the Chbika green hydrogen project in Morocco’s Guelmim-Oued Noun region. The project plans to develop 1 GW of renewable energy from onshore solar and wind, generating green hydrogen through seawater desalination and electrolysis, which will be converted into 200,000 tons of green ammonia annually for the European market. TE H2 and CIP will manage renewable production while A.P. Møller oversees port infrastructure. The Chbika project highlights Morocco’s potential as a renewable energy hub and aims to drive economic growth and sustainable energy export.
