China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has held a meeting to improve governance in the photovoltaics sector. The meeting focused on accelerating high-quality industry development. MIIT urged companies to curb disorderly price competition through legal measures. Firms were asked to improve product quality and shut outdated production lines. The ministry also asked for new technology and more work with other countries. Companies must follow safety and quality rules. MIIT said the sector has grown rapidly in scale, technology, and international markets. It is now a key part of China’s manufacturing. The ministry will further strengthen governance, industry standards, and help firms address operational challenges.Earlier, Chinese PV cell maker YingfaRuineng also joined the UN Global Compact (UNGC), reinforcing industry efforts towards improved governance and global collaboration in the photovoltaics sector.
