Singapore-based Vena Energy, a green energy provider, has started building the 320 MW Wandoan South Solar 2 project in Queensland’s Western Downs. The project is part of the larger Wandoan South plan and is expected to start operating by mid-2027. It is projected to generate 700 GWh of electricity annually, which would supply approximately 120,000 households, while reducing 568,000 tons of CO₂ emissions and saving 490 million litres of water each year.It follows earlier phases that included a 168 MW solar farm, operational since 2024, and a 150 MWh battery storage system completed in 2022. Vena also signed a long-term power supply deal with CleanCo. Up to 400 jobs are expected during peak construction, including for local and First Nations workers.
