Singapore-based Vena Energy has commissioned the Tailem Bend 2 Hybrid Project in South Australia. The project combines an 87 MW solar farm with a 41.5 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). It is located 90 km southeast of Adelaide and connects to the National Electricity Market. The hybrid design allows solar and battery components to operate independently while sharing grid infrastructure. It can power over 38,000 homes annually and reduce 222,800 tons of emissions. Advanced bi-facial solar panels on tracking systems improve efficiency. The project involved significant local workforce participation, including regional and First Nations workers. It is adjacent to the 95 MW Tailem Bend 1 Solar Farm, achieving a combined capacity of 223.5 MW. Vena Energy plans additional battery storage at the site to support South Australia's energy goals.
