Sonnedix, a global renewable energy company, has inaugurated its 150MW Douro solar PV project in Tarouca, Viseu District, Portugal. This marked its largest project in Europe. The plant is expected to produce 230GWh annually, supplying 76,000 homes and offsetting 82,000 metric tons of CO₂. A 10-year PPA with Equinix was signed in December 2024. The project connects to the Valdigem substation and may be hybridized with wind and storage. Sonnedix held the opening in Vila Chã da Beira with local authorities and partners. The company has 1.7GW operating across Spain and Portugal and is developing 400MW more in Portugal, aiming to double capacity by end of 2025.This follows Sonnedix’s recent 420GWh solar power agreement with Renfe in Madrid, further expanding its presence across Spain and Portugal.
