SMA Solar Technology AG, a Germany-based manufacturer of PV inverters, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Create Energy in the US. The agreement is to co-manufacture Sunny Highpower PEAK3 string inverters and PowerSkid systems in Portland, Tennessee, starting in the first quarter of 2026. Each PowerSkid system is rated at more than 2 MW per block and is designed for utility-scale solar applications nationwide. This marks the first time in over a decade that SMA Solar Technology AG has commissioned inverter production facilities in the US. The collaboration is designed to enhance localized supply chains, minimize lead times, and enhance customer support for US solar developers. According to SMA Solar Technology AG, US is a strategically important market for future expansion. Create Energy anticipates that the partnership is expected to encourage innovation and contribute to US energy independence. Earlier this year, SMA Solar Technology AG had expanded with a new production facility in Poland, further increasing its global manufacturing footprint.
