OCI Energy, a San Antonio-headquartered developer of solar and storage projects, has sold the 100 MW AC / 130 MW DC Project Lucky 7 Solar in Hopkins County, Texas, to Sabanci Renewables, a US-based renewable energy developer. According to OCI Energy, the project was developed in-house, spans 745 acres, and is expected to enter commercial operation in 2027 under Sabanci Renewables’ ownership. The sale was preceded in July by the transfer of Project Pepper, a 120 MW AC / 156 MW DC project in McLennan County, which was also sold to Sabanci Renewables. Together, these two transactions have represented 286 MW DC of solar capacity across Texas. The closing of the Lucky 7 Solar deal was marked by a signing ceremony at OCI Energy’s San Antonio headquarters. OCI Energy has targeted a nationwide portfolio of 10 GW of solar and storage projects by 2028, while Sabanci Renewables has aimed for a 3 GW renewable portfolio in the United States by 2030.
