Lightsource bp & Star Trade spark 115 MW deal in Taiwan

Lightsourcebp, a global solar energy developer headquartered in London, has signed a power purchase agreement with Star Trade in Taiwan. The deal secures 100 percent of output from the 115MW Budai solar project. The Budai project is in Budai and Yizhu Township, Chiayi County. It is under construction and will be completed in 2026. The project has secured around TWD 6billion (~$ 206.25 million) in financing from local and international banks. It is expected to create up to 750 direct construction jobs. Star Trade, part of HD Renewable Energy, is Taiwan’s third-largest electricity retailer. The agreement supports renewable energy growth for businesses across Taiwan and Asia-Pacific. Lightsourcebphas also signed 10 new PPAs totaling 1.3GW across Europe, Americas, and APAC during 2024.The Budai project is part The Budai project is part of Lightsource bp’s wider expansion, including its 115MW fishery solar project in Taiwan.
