Lightsource bp, a global solar energy developer, has secured TWD 6 billion (~$202.56 million) in financing for a 115MW fishery solar project in Budai and Yizhu, Chiayi County, Taiwan. Construction is scheduled to begin in June 2025. This is the companys first project in Taiwan and its first combining solar energy with aquaculture. The project will install solar panels above fishponds, leveraging the regions strong fish farming base. It is expected to generate 180,000MWh annually, powering 41,000 homes and cutting 115,000 tonnes of CO emissions. Local firm GreenRock Energy is managing fishery operations, and Shihlin Electric & Engineering Corporation is handling EPC.
