UK-headquartered Lightsource bp’s utility-scale projects, Valle 3 and Valle 4, received the UNEF ‘Sustainability Excellence Certificate’ for environmental and social responsibility in Spain’s solar sector. The award was presented at the III Sustainability and Biodiversity Conference, where UNEF unveiled its IV Report on Sustainability and Photovoltaic Plants. Located in Wamba (Valladolid), the 330 MW projects aimed at powering 148,000 households by 2027. They were part of a 500 MW Iberian portfolio supporting corporate PPAs. The Spanish Congress of Deputies hosted the conference, highlighting biodiversity conservation, naturalisation, and socio-economic benefits of solar energy. UNEF’s 2024 certificates recognised developers integrating socio-economic, environmental, and circular economy principles. The certification validated Lightsource bp’s sustainability practices beyond renewable energy production in Spain.
