Ignite Power, headquartered in Abu Dhabi, has completed the acquisition of ENGIE Energy Access, a subsidiary of France’s ENGIE Group active in African off-grid markets. The entity has been rebranded as Ignite Energy Access following the completion of this transaction, to reflect its new ownership. The newly formed company, serving more than 15 million people across 12 countries, is recognized as Africa’s largest off-grid energy provider. By combining ENGIE’s technical experience with Ignite’s financing and operational model, the entity targets connecting 100 million people by 2030. The transaction, among the most notable renewable energy deals of 2025, strengthens Ignite Power’s footprint in Africa’s decentralized clean power sector.
