Ignite Power, headquartered in Abu Dhabi, has signed a Share Purchase Agreement to completly acquire ENGIE Energy Access (EEA), a subsidiary of French energy utility, ENGIE. Pending regulatory and antitrust approvals, this transaction will establish a new entity "Ignite Energy Access". The combined entity will expand operations in 14 African nations to provide sustainable energy solutions to over 15 million people. The acquisition will more than double Ignite’s footprint, making it Africa’s largest provider of distributed renewable energy (DRE) solutions. Leveraging cost-effective solar panels, batteries, and mobile payment systems, the combined entity addresses a market of 250 million people. Supported by recent $15 million funding from Afrigreen, Ignite aims to connect 100 million people by 2030, addressing the 600 million Africans lacking electricity. This move reinforces Ignite’s role in Africa’s energy transformation and drives economic growth and sustainable development.
