Spain-based Iberdrola España is the Spanish subholding of the Iberdrola Group, collaborated with Schneider Electric to develop a new microgrid at the Molins de Rei plant in Barcelona. It includes 990 solar panels generating 670 MWh/year, five EV charging points, and 216 kWh of battery storage, operating under a 20-year PPA. Schneider Electric achieved Zero CO₂ Factory status by meeting all emission reduction targets and improving energy efficiency by 24% since 2019, with an additional 11% expected from a new electric boiler. Since 2017, the plant has reduced 2,250 tons of CO₂ annually and reached zero emissions in Scope 1 and 2. The project received funding from the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving under the EU-backed Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan. Recently, Iberdrola Italia commissions 33 MW solar plant in Italy.
