UAE-based infrastructure company, Global South Utilities (GSU), part of Resources Investment LTD, has joined Atum Solar Egypt to build a $220 million solar cell and module factory in the Suez Canal Economic Zone. The project was planned to make Egypt a hub for renewable energy production and export. It has brought together partners from Egypt, the UAE, Bahrain, and China. GSU has supported local manufacturing and shared technology through the initiative. The new complex is expected to enhance Egypt’s industrial base and supply solar equipment to regional and global markets. Earlier this year, GSU inaugurated a 53 MW solar power project in Shabwah, complementing its $220 million Atum Solar Egypt initiative in the Suez Canal Zone.
