Madrid, Spain-headquartered Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV), part of Jameel Energy, has commissioned the 62MW (DC) (55MW (AC)) Masrik-1 photovoltaic plant in Armenia. The facility, spread over 130 hectares, will supply electricity to more than 21,400 households and is expected to cut over 54,000tons of CO2 emissions annually. The project was financed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European Union, and Ameriabank. Construction was carried out by China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) with the involvement of Armenian authorities. The generated electricity will be delivered to the national grid under a power purchase agreement with Electrical Networks of Armenia CJSC (ENA), supporting the country’s renewable energy expansion.FRV’s Masrik 1 launch in Armenia follows its 63 MW PV project in Canterbury in partnership with Genesis.
