Enviromena approved for 49.9 MW solar project in UK

Hartlepool Council approved Enviromena’s 49.9 MW High Barns Solar Farm and 25 MW BESS in County Durham, designed to power 25,915 homes and cut 14,500 tons of CO₂.

UAE-headquartered Enviromena, an independent power company, received full planning approval from Hartlepool Borough Council. The approval is for its 49.9 MW High Barns Solar Farm and 25 MW battery system in Elwick, County Durham Located next to the A19, the project will produce enough electricity to power about 25,915 homes each year and cut 14,500 tons of CO₂ emissions. It is the company’s biggest project developed on its own so far. The project supports both local carbon reduction plans and the UK’s goal of reaching 45 GW of solar power by 2030. The site will also include wildflower meadows, better hedgerows, and improved public pathways. Close Brothers funded Enviromena with GBP 3.7 million to build the 8.99 MW Rhigos Road Solar Farm, recently.
