Headquartered in Maryland, Chaberton Energy has developed the 3.2 MW (DC) Lime Kiln community solar project in Fulton, Maryland. It is owned and operated by Pivot Energy and was energized this week. The project is fully subscribed under Maryland’s Community Solar program. It supplies electricity to about 500 homes and businesses. Emission savings are equal to removing 800 gasoline cars from the road. The project spans 15 acres of a 57-acre site and supports agrivoltaics. Native pollinator species and sheep grazing are part of land-use efforts. Subscribers are expected to save 10% annually on energy bills. Chaberton has also donated $10,000 to fund a STEM scholarship. Lime Kiln is one of two Maryland projects launching this summer by Pivot and Chaberton.Prior to the energization of Lime Kiln, Chaberton partnered with Sunscape to divest 8.7 MW of solar projects to Green Utility, expanding third-party ownership in the state.
