Madrid-headquartered BNZ, an independent power producer (IPP) that develops, builds, and operates photovoltaic projects, has launched the 34.5 MW Santa Catalina solar plant in Jaén, Andalusia. It marked the company’s sixth facility in Spain and second in the region. The plant was expected to prevent 18,534 tons of CO₂ emissions annually. During construction, BNZ contracted 82 companies and generated 57 jobs. The project included steps to protect birds, make up for lost habitats, and build wildlife paths and shelters. BNZ worked with local authorities to help nature recover and support local biodiversity.
