Axpo, Switzerland’s energy producer and the MOSOLF Group has announced plans to build a solar car park canopy installation at MOSOLF’s Kippenheim site in southern Germany. The installation, covering 109,000 square metres, included over 54,000 solar modules with a total capacity of up to 24 MW. Once operational, it was set to generate more than 26,700 MWh of electricity annually, with over 85% fed into the public grid. A 3 MW section was designated for on-site consumption. The canopies offered weather protection for vehicles and improved conditions for employees. The project supported MOSOLF’s decarbonisation strategy and solar expansion across its locations. Axpo extended its solar development in Germany, working through its French subsidiary Urbasolar. Commissioning was scheduled for the end of 2026. This project followed the March 2025 start of construction on Axpo’s 8 MW NalpSolar installation in Tujetsch, Switzerland.
