Axpo, Switzerland's largest energy producer, has launched construction of the NalpSolar alpine solar project in Tujetsch, Grisons, Switzerland. The 8 MW plant, located near the Lai da Nalps reservoir, was designed to generate 11 GWh annually—enough to supply 2,000 households. Electricity will be delivered to Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) under a 20-year contract. The project followed two years of planning and permitting. Construction preparations began in March 2025, with 10% capacity to be grid-connected by end-2025. Full production is targeted by 2028. Recently, A 102 MW solar PPA signed between Axpo and EDF Renewables.
