Avangrid, a member of the Iberdrola Group, has announced it had started installing solar panels at the 166 MW (DC) (120 MW (AC)) Tower Solar project in Morrow County, Oregon. The project, developed on 900 acres owned by the Port of Morrow, used over 200,000 panels assembled by SEG Solar at its Houston facility. Energy from the plant was set to be delivered to Portland General Electric’s grid and support a new QTS data center for Meta. Construction was expected to create more than 200 regional jobs, while the project was projected to contribute about $20 million in PILOTs and property taxes. Tower Solar was integrated with Portland General Electric’s Green Future Impact program, allowing commercial and municipal subscribers to access bundled renewable energy and receive Renewable Energy Certificates.Alongside Tower Solar in Morrow County, Avangrid also supplied power to Amazon through its Oregon Trail Solar project in Oregon.
