Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) has cancelled a 125MW AC (181.3MW DC) solar EPC contract after the Government of Assam withdrew external funding secured from the Asian Development Bank. The contract was awarded on March 11, 2025, to a consortium that included Waaree Renewable Technologies Limited, a Mumbai-based provider of solar EPC services. APDCL stated that the withdrawal of funding made the project financially unviable and led to termination. Waaree Renewable Technologies Limited was responsible forcomplete engineering, procurement, construction, and operations and maintenance services under an 18-month execution schedule. APDCL has officially terminated the LoA (and all related project activities) on July 19, 2025, by informing Waaree Renewable Technologies Limited. Waaree Renewable Technologies Limited has not issued any public statement regarding alternative project plans or steps to mitigate potential impacts.
