Renewable power producer BrightNight has received approval from the Victorian government for its AUD 700 million Mortlake Energy Hub, which will be the largest hybrid renewable energy project in the state. The hub will include 360 MW of solar capacity and a 300 MW Battery Energy Storage System, spanning 1,060 hectares in Mortlake. Once operational, it will power 140,000 homes, contribute over 1% of Victoria’s electricity, and prevent more than 40 million tons of CO2 emissions annually. The project, part of Victoria’s Development Facilitation Program, is expected to create 300 jobs and support the state’s goal of reaching 65% renewable energy by 2030 and 95% by 2035.
