In Dhaka, the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) and Power Grid Bangladesh PLC have signed a PPA and Implementation Agreement (IA) with Sonagazi Solar Power Limited, supported by Germany-based ib vogt. According to Sonagazi Solar Power Limited, the agreement covers a 50 MWAC PV plant expected to start operations in late 2025, providing clean energy at a fixed tariff of $0.1094 per kWh for 20 years. This project supports Bangladesh’s goal of achieving 40% clean power by 2041. The plant, located near the Baraiyarhat 132/33 kV grid substation in Chittagong District, will feature approximately 68 MWp capacity and use high-efficiency bifacial modules. It is projected to save up to 70,000 metric tonnes of CO2 annually. The project’s environmental and social assessment scrutiny is underway to minimize impacts, while ib vogt will manage its construction and operations.
