Boyle Project set to power New York grid with 5.4 MW PV capacity

Canada-based SolarBank Corporation is advancing a 5.4 MW (DC) solar power project in Broome County, New York, named the Boyle Project. The company aims for the project to qualify for incentives under the NY-Sun Program, administered by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). The project site has been secured, and the necessary application for interconnection approval has been submitted. The Boyle Project will employ agrivoltaics, combining sheep grazing to manage vegetation. However, risks such as interconnection approval, financing challenges, construction delays, and possible policy shifts could affect the project’s financial feasibility, says SolarBank. Once completed, the Boyle Project will provide clean energy to the local grid, benefiting subscribers without needing solar panel installations on their properties.
