Ireland-based Bord Gáis Energy has acquired Swyft Energy, a leading solar solutions provider, to bolster its renewable energy portfolio. The deal, pending regulatory approval, incorporates Swyft Energy’s expertise in solar PV and boiler installations, along with its digital-first platform. This acquisition aligns with Ireland’s Climate Action Plan, targeting 8 GW of solar capacity by 2030. Bord Gáis Energy aims to complete 10,000 solar PV installations within five years, potentially reducing electricity bills by 50-70%. According to Bord Gáis Energy, the partnership complements its farm-based solar initiatives with the Irish Farmers’ Association. The company is also investing in offshore wind, hydrogen, and Peaker plants. Bord Gáis Energy’s parent company Centrica plans green investments of £600m-£800m (~$750m-$1bn) annually through 2028.
