Switzerland-based Axpo has begun operations at France’s rooftop PV plant, located in Beauvais, approximately 80 km north of Paris. The 12.8 MW plant, installed on an industrial rooftop owned by real estate developer PRD and spanning 62,000 m2, is said to be the ‘largest’ rooftop PV installation in France. It will generate 13 GWh annually, enough to power around 3,000 households. The project partners include PRD and investment management company HMC, with development led by Axpo’s subsidiary Urbasolar. Urbasolar claims to have built over 700 large-scale solar projects. With over 190 MW of solar installations already, Axpo says it continues to expand its renewable energy efforts in France and other key European markets, contributing to the energy transition with solar installations, including ground-mounted systems, agrivoltaics, and floating PV.
