AXIAN Energy secures €84M for Senegal PV project in Senegal

Madagascar-based AXIAN Energy, part of the AXIAN Group, is a renewable energy project developer is collaborating with EAAIF, FMO, and DEG. Together, they are investing €84 million (~$88.63 million) in two photovoltaic plants with battery energy storage systems (BESS). The project is located in Senegal’s Kolda region.The total investment is over €105 million (~$110.78 million), funded mainly by EAAIF, FMO, and DEG, benefiting 25,000 local households. This project is known to be West Africa’s largest project, featuring 60 MW solar capacity and a 72 MWh battery system. The project aims to supply clean energy to 235,000 people and set for completion by 2026. It also aligns with Senegal’s goal of reaching 40% renewable energy by 2030.
