Avangrid, Inc., part of the Iberdrola Group, has inaugurated its National Training Center (NTC) in Sherman County, Oregon, to train and upskill technicians for onshore renewable energy projects. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics highlights wind turbine service technicians as the fastest-growing job through 2032. According to the company, Avangrid aims to train over 200 employees annually, starting this summer. The NTC features state-of-the-art training tools, including virtual and mixed reality, a 30-foot fall protection tower, and hands-on equipment training. This facility supports Avangrid’s 14 renewable energy sites in Oregon, contributing over $140 million in property taxes and creating more than 60 full-time jobs. The program follows American Clean Power Association guidelines and seeks Global Wind Organisation certification to ensure global safety standards.
