Assan Alüminyum, a Turkey-based aluminum producer, has acquired a 10 MW solar power plant in Karaman. Covering 11.37 hectares, this solar plant aligns with Assan Alüminyum’s Decarbonization Roadmap targeting net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. According to Assan Alüminyum, the solar facility will help offset Scope 2 emissions, complementing the energy from its existing hydroelectric facility in Manavgat. This hydroelectric facility nearly meets the company’s yearly electricity needs. Additionally, the company purchases International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-REC) to fully offset Scope 2 emissions and maintains certification under the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI). Recently, Assan Alüminyum secured a $90 million green loan from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), making it the first in its industry to achieve 100% climate-labeled green financing for its decarbonization projects.
