US-based Amperon, a leader in AI-driven electricity forecasting, has launched its Asset-Level Renewable Generation Forecasts. This service provides solar generation forecasts for individual sites and aggregated portfolios, updated hourly with 15-day projections and two-day sub-hourly updates at 5-minute intervals. According to Amperon, the system enhances forecast accuracy by evaluating each asset’s nameplate capacity, reducing financial risks from scheduling errors. Customers can also track their carbon footprint and calculate carbon offsets three days in advance. Traditional metrics like Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) fall short for single-site solar projects. To address this, Amperon introduces capacity normalized mean absolute error (cnMAE), which adjusts forecast errors by system capacity, improving accuracy and reliability.
