Canada-based renewable energy developer Westbridge Renewable Energy Corporation has received regulatory approval from the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) for the Red Willow Solar and Storage deployment in Alberta. The approval covers the PV facility with a capacity of up to 225 MW AC, a BESS with a capacity of up to 200 MWh, and a substation permit and license for the Birch 1075S Substation. The project is located in Stettler County and is being developed through Westbridge’s wholly owned subsidiary, Red Willow Solar Inc. The regulatory decision authorizes the construction and operation of the solar facility, the battery system, and the associated substation in accordance with applicable provincial legislation. Westbridge has indicated that applications related to interconnection approvals are expected to be submitted within the calendar year. The Red Willow development is the fourth of five Alberta projects by Westbridge to secure Alberta Utilities Commission approval, following Georgetown, Sunnynook, and Dolcy.
