US-based RWE, a Renewable Energy Company, has started building the 98 MW (AC) Union Ridge Solar farm in Licking County, Ohio. The construction phase will involve about 280 workers and generate an estimated $68 million in local economic activity. The project was acquiredby Leeward Renewable Energy in late 2024.RWE and MasTec Renewables are working with local labor unions to hire skilled workers and are continuing a partnership with C-TEC to support workforce training in solar energy. Once operational, the project will provide over $35 million in tax revenue and increase RWE’s total operating capacity in Ohio to nearly 500 MW.Across the US, RWE commissioned 999 MW including Peregrine Solar 300 MW, Quartz Solar 135 MW and Wythe Solar 75 MW.
