PowerBank Corporation, a Toronto-based developer and owner of distributed and community solar and BESS projects, is advancing a 3.15 MW DC hybrid solar plus 1.2 MWh storage project in Buffalo, New York. The South Park community solar project has secured Waterfront Consistency Review and Zoning Map Amendment approvals, and is now proceeding to the Zoning Board of Appeals for an Area Variance. PowerBank has stated that construction will commence once final permits and financing have been secured. According to PowerBank, the project is expected to power 393 homes while delivering clean electricity into the local grid. The subscription model enables renters, businesses, and homeowners to receive bill credits without installing on-site equipment, broadening access to solar participation. The project is anticipated to qualify for NYSERDA’s NY-Sun and Retail Energy Storage Incentive Programs, as well as federal investment tax credits under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act of 2025. Recently, the company was advancing a 5 MW community solar hybrid project eligible for NYSERDA incentives.
