Chicago-headquartered Invenergy, a global developer of clean energy projects, has announced the start of construction on a new solar facility. The 240 MW Pleasant Prairie Solar Energy Center is in Franklin County, Ohio. The project is in Galloway, near Columbus. It involved a $230 million investment. Invenergy partnered with Ohio State University’s Battelle Center for educational collaboration. Construction is scheduled through early 2027. Up to 300 jobs are expected during peak construction. The project will employ 3 permanent staff after completion. Blattner was selected as the EPC contractor. The project uses US-made solar panels from Illuminate USA. Illuminate USA is Invenergy’s majority-owned facility in Pataskala. These panels were also deployed at Invenergy’s Hardin III and Cadence Solar projects. Invenergy’s solar portfolio in Ohio includes over 1GW of capacity. It involves $17.5 million in annual statewide investment.
