Glenfarne Group, a New York-based developer and operator of global energy infrastructure assets, has completed its acquisition of four utility-scale projects in Chile from METLEN Energy & Metals. The portfolio provides 909 MW of installed capacity, which includes 588 MW of solar power and 1.61 GWh capacity equivalent to 321 MW of BESS. The assets are located in Chile's northern provinces and will benefit from high solar irradiance and multiple connections to the Sistema Eléctrico Nacional, thereby enhancing asset utilization. METLEN will complete the battery systems in the first half of 2026, adjacent to the existing solar facilities. The transaction, valued at $865 million including assumed debt, has secured over $1 billion in financing from Scotiabank, BNP Paribas, and Société Générale. Glenfarne's portfolio now exceeds 3.1 GW in capacity and 1.61 GWh in storage across Chile, Panama, Colombia, and Costa Rica, in addition to 32.8 million tonnes of LNG annually under development in North America.
