Glenfarne Asset Company, LLC, a US-based energy infrastructure firm, has agreed to acquire four energy assets in Chile totaling 909 MW from Metlen Energy & Metals. According to Glenfarne, the portfolio includes 588 MW of operational solar facilities and 1.61 GWh (~321 MW) of BESS under construction. The company said the transaction is subject to regulatory approvals, financing conditions, and customary closing adjustments. As per Glenfarne, closing of the acquisition is expected after the BESSs are completed and fully operational by early 2026. Glenfarne stated that this marks its first entry into utility-scale solar and storage. Upon completion, Glenfarne’s operational and in-construction capacity across Chile, Panama, Colombia, and Costa Rica will exceed 3.1 GW, including 1.61 GWh of BESS. Metlen is responsible for delivering the battery systems fully constructed and operational.
